Clare Island Beach
Clare Island Beach
A beautiful glow casts warm light across the bay of Clare Island’s familiar beach.
Behind the Image
One of the benefits of the landscape of Clare Island, or almost any Irish island for that matter, is the ability to quickly access scenes when weather conditions are favourable. One January morning I rose early to find a beautiful pre-dawn glow in the sky. The weather conditions were incredibly still and particularly icy as I made my way toward the beach and the surface of the road glistened with frost, I knew that there would be something I could capture to combine everything together. For the longest time I had wanted to capture a long-exposure image of the beach on Clare Island, but often the conditions don’t present the best qualities to do so. Thankfully on this stunning winter’s morning, everything aligned in my favour.
