Glendollagh Lough
Glendollagh Lough
Sitting in the shadow of Lissoughter and the Twelve Bens, Glendollagh Lough glimmers as it reflects the break in the clouds above. The golden sunrise drapes across the iconic reddy-brown bogland of Southern Connemara, illuminating Cashel Hill, with Lettershinna Hill to the left and Errisbeg on the right in the far distance.
Behind the Image
Whilst on a planned camping venture to the top of Lissoughter, my 360º view of the Twelve Bens to my West, Maumturks to the North, and iconic Connemara landscape to the South gave me ample options to capture depending on the morning light. Although dense cloud cover was blowing in from the North East, a fortunate gap in the clouds opened up to allow strong sunlight to push through and bathe the landscape in sun, clipping the peaks of the 3 hills in the southwest of my location.
