Dawn Fire
Dawn Fire
A fiery sunrise casts its warm glow across Croagh Patrick as storm clouds rise over Mweelrea. Captured from the shoreline on Clare Island.
Behind the Image
I feel truly lucky that views like these are within easy reach when on Clare Island, even if they weren’t planned to be captured. This particular morning, I looked out the window and spotted conditions perfect for an incredible sunrise. As the earth oscillates between summer and winter, the sun’s rising position shifts further north to south depending on the time of year when facing east. Emanating from the northeast during summer, a blazing glow extends south toward the face of Croagh Patrick, illuminating the dense cloud cover with it. Some mornings you come away with better images than experiences, but on this occasion, it will be never one to forget.
