Knocknagur
Knocknagur
At 310m high the humble Knocknagur sits nestled in front of the Maumturks as its backdrop. One of the most ancient feeling landscapes in the west of Ireland, this landscape awaits those who take the stunning drive from Galway to Doolough.
Behind the Image
En-route back to Roonagh to head for Clare Island, my drive takes me past the sublime landscape of the Maumturks. During the low winter sun’s path, the light on Knocknagur made me pull over to capture what is possibly my favourite hill on the west coast of Ireland. There is something truly unique about this untouched terrain that attracts so many to the rugged Connemara landscape and makes one feel as though they’ve stepped back in time.
