Knockmore
Knockmore
Knockmore sits as the highest peak on Clare Island at 462m. Guarding the entrance to Clew Bay, it offers unrestricted views of the Connemara mountains of Mweelrea, Croagh Patrick, and Achill Island.
Behind the Image
This location effectively inspired my love of landscape photography; how could it not. Locally known as ‘The Big Hill’, Knockmore is impressive in its own right set against the backdrop of the open Atlantic Ocean. I have photographed here more times than I can recall and never tire of the immeasurable different scenes presented each time I visit. Whether a dramatic storm (in this instance), or blissful sunset, I feel that without a doubt if any location can inspire you, then this is it.
