Behind the Image

I had been waiting many years for these particular conditions to occur to capture this iconic structure in Salthill. Glass like sea conditions, the correct angle of illumination and favourable weather conditions all came together to allow me to capture the diving tower just as the sun would grace the rocks in the foreground. There appears to be a philosophy of spirituality and therapy to those who specifically enjoy cold water swimming in time for sunrise, with the diving tower often being deserted not too long afterwards. And with these utterly tranquil conditions, one can easily understand why.
