Clare Island Harbour
Clare Island Harbour
A soft yet crisp evening in June as the boats moor at the end of the day in Clare Island’s harbour. These vessels range in purpose from tourism and leisure to providing for the livelihoods of many islanders.
Behind the Image
The most obvious use of a drone is to fully exploit its capability to shoot on high, though I have often found they are perfect for getting just that extra bit of height that a tripod cannot stretch to, fully complementing the image I try to capture. Technically the drone here was sent out a small bit below ground level from my launch point but gave a useful 6-7m vantage point over the harbour. It was a tranquil evening, all the boats had finished their sailing and fishing runs and were moored within the bay. Most people were at home during dinner time and during a sparsely populated summer’s day due to the pandemic, hardly a soul was wandering during this peaceful evening. Sometimes the accentuated peacefulness of human absence leaves an everlasting impression of serenity.
